Spiritual
people come in all forms, some are introspective and
noble and discerning, full of kindness,
mercy and grace and an inspiration to be around... other
"spiritual" folk... not so much.
We've all met Jewish or Christian fanatics who
operate on a cult-like fervor about God
or Torah, offering us opportunities to buy into
some religious shtick, some even try to force it down
our throats. Some use super spiritualism or guilt
tactics,
they feel they have a direct line to heaven and become obtrusive, demanding and
rather tiresome to be around.
Well, two different kinds of "spiritual" people, and of
course, two different types of "spirits".
So
let's look at spirituality as it relates to personal
conduct, shall we? There are plenty of "spiritual" people
involved in
leadership, some think they can rise above the rest of
us, they are not transparent, not accountable to anyone, because they
think they operate on a "different" kind of spirituality because of their position.
No way. These folks are
a clear and present danger to themselves and to our spiritual growth.
They often lay all sorts of detours in front of our
paths so we can't find our way to the Kingdom of
Heaven, or grow our relationships with the Father YHWH
and His Mashiyach. They want to take "authority" over us, part of their "success" is
measured by numbers of
dollars and people who support them and how tight they
can pull the noose of "authority" around our necks.
Does it really matter whether certain leaders are ignorant of the Kingdom or whether they are
willfully malicious? When the
damage is done, it's done. Let's be vigilant
about "spirituality" and "truth" as it pertains to the
many Judeo-Christian ideas out there. The
truth is that carnal and immature people use
"spirituality" to mask their unrighteous conduct,
well meaning leaders are still out there devastating the
Body of Mashiyach. The fact is that each of us
has One path to One kingdom, it's our job to stay on
that path that leads to Life, not be distracted by
"the shine" of religion.
Part of the work of a Beit Din is to help define
righteous spirituality versus damaging and hurtful
religious expressions that are the root of religious
bigotry and discrimination on personal and macro levels.
Mashiyach exemplifies universal accountability and
equality for everyone, this is course is the main reason
he was rejected by religion and those with a distorted
spirituality.
The next time you are studying Torah and Mashiyach
please think about this. How much of the Word of
YHWH is about conduct? How much of the Bible is
about religion? Tell me, what percentage of your
life and Faith has to do with your conduct? How
much has to do with your intellect or "theology" about
YHWH? You already now where I'm going with this
don't you? You've likely hear this little proverb.
Understand your actions,
for they become habits.
Study
your habits, for they will become your character.
Develop your character,
it becomes your destiny.
Our character becomes our destiny. Mashiyach in
you the hope of glory. Transformed into the Image
of Elohim. Conformed to the Image of His Son.
Our conduct is our spirituality and our spirituality is
our conduct.
